Oct 17, 2018 How to arrange tracks and tunes for guitar: ’Chord Yoga' library Map out the fretboard with an ever-growing online learning platform. This tab is for Bill Frisell's version of the Beach Boys' song 'Surfer Girl,' off of 1963's album of the same name. It was beautifully transcribed by reddit user 'FoolOnThePlanet91,' so all credit goes to him for taking the time to figure this great rendition out. Bill Frisell No matter what the context-and there have been scores of them-Bill Frisell has sounded like he's on one long, constant solo more than any other guitarist in jazz. His playing is singular enough, though, that it always stands way out in a good way, both calling attention to and deflecting attention from itself. Because Bill Frisell can’t accompany himself like a pianist, he often takes a role similar to Sonny Rollins in his trio material. This lends cuts like Billy Strayhorn’s “A Flower is a Lovesome Thing” and “What the World Needs Now is Love” by Burt Bacharach and Hal David to an unorthodox arrangement.
Bill Frisell may be the biggest gearhead in jazz. He is a jazz guitar maestro known for experimenting with effects and incorporating many different genres with jazz. With the amount of gear he’s used I could only expect Kurt Rosenwinkel to match him in terms of gear. Bill has gone without effects on just as many sessions as he does without effects. He likes to keep things musical. Read more to find out Bill Frisell’s Gear.
